Introduction to My Sweet Alibi and Where It All Started

Hello there! My name is Jillian and I am the owner of My Sweet Alibi. The business side of things started just about 7 years ago when I found the love for crochet. Crocheting introduced me to craft shows and farmers markets and meeting new potential customers prior to expanding to what I do now. 

The reason I got into crocheting was because I had a chance to start over in life. I had two small children at the time and I just noticed that as a single mother, I was pretty lonely/bored at night and just needed something to help me relax after I got the kids to bed. The idea of crocheting came to me because the daycare they went to did a winter hat tree, and when I saw that I just wanted to FILL it. And the next year that is just what I did. And for the following year as well. 

Unfortunately crocheted items do not sell well. And it can be an expensive hobby. I still thoroughly enjoy being able to crochet in my free time- which means never considering I run a business and have 5 children. I used to sneak a bag of yarn to playgrounds but even then I am usually too distracted to even try to pull some yarn out. One day I will miss this though, I know it.

This brings me to what I do now. I do pretty random stuff. I jump between things. I go with the flow, see what is buzzing and end up making it. I think it will be a hit so I over buy and don't end up selling. I am trying to do this smarter. I plan to put myself out there more. Right now I am pretty deep into shirts which has been doing great. 

I sell a very small amount on Etsy. I am in my free trial on Shopify so we will see how that goes. I am in a boutique in Taunton called Mirror Mirror and also a gift shop in Medford called 4GoodVibes. Check them out, they're great. I also do craft shows which are pretty random at the moment. I thought I would go hard again on the craft shows but looks like people are slowing down on attending them still. 

I have some pretty exciting news to share within the next couple of weeks. My TikTok definitely shows some sneak peeks into what I got going on.
